If you are serious about building a highly successful and lucrative chiropractic practice, it is absolutely imperative that you get your practice massive amount of exposure through the internet.
As you likely know, more people are turning to the internet each and every day to find various solutions or resources. You can actually use the Google keyword tool to find out how many searches there are on Google each month for chiropractors in your area. You would just type in chiropractic your city, so if you practice in San Diego, you would type in chiropractic San Diego into Google to see how many searches there are.
Now if you take the above example (let's say you are a chiropractor trying to get new patients in San Diego), you will see that on average 5,100 people search for this keyword phrase every month! That is obviously A TON of people. It would make sense that you would want to do everything humanly possible to position your practice website on that first page of Google so that a good percentage of people searching are coming to your website.
Think about it this way: If you get even 10% of those people clicking through to your site, that is 510 people every month who are looking for a chiropractor that have just landed on your site. If you get 10% of those people coming in for treatment, that is 51 people per month that your chiropractic website is generating for your practice!
More likely you would get around 3-5%.. but that is STILL between 15-25 new patients per month.
So, the question becomes... well, how the heck do you do this?? How do you get your website on the first page of Google?
Well, in a market like San Diego where there is a lot of competition, you will need to take a few steps.
1. You will need a content-rich website ~ You can't just throw up a 3-5 page typical site and expect it to rank high in Google. You'll need to dedicate some time and effort to writing articles for your site and filling it out with a ton of valuable content. Google LOVES content-rich websites. The Google algorithm will always reward sites with more content.
This is actually a BIG reason why I recommend that you use a WordPress blog for your practice instead of just a static HTML website. When you have a WordPress blog, you will stack the odds in your favor of getting your blog to rank highly in the search engines.
2. You will need to have on-page search engine optimization done for your chiropractic website ~ This includes setting up your keywords, title tags, metatags, the meta description, and the site map, amongst other little technical details. You just can't skip this step if you want to be a serious competitor on the internet. Google won't rank your site well if the on-page SEO is weak or lacking.
3. You will need to do off-page SEO as well ~ The main step in off-page SEO involves getting backlinks to your website or blog. You can do this through social bookmarking, online videos, social media, and article marketing. These are more advanced strategies that I can't cover here in a short blog post.
4. You want to have an opt-in form on your website~ Make sure you have a valuable free offer to share with people in exchange for their name and email address. One of your main goals should be to build your online list so you can email your past, current, and prospective patients with push-button ease. You will need an email marketing service to do this.
5. Consider adding video to your website ~ The more current you are on web 2.0 marketing trends, the better! Over 50% of the content on the internet is now video, and this trend will only continue. Shoot a 90 second intro video on your home page that welcomes the web viewer to your site and encourages them to leave their name and email and call your practice with questions. This greatly enhances your website conversion.
6. Integrate social media on your website ~ This is more easily accomplished with a blog. If you read my blog post linked above, you'll see why. You want people to connect with you through Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube with as much ease as possible.
There are many other factors that contribute to a successful chiropractic online marketing campaign, but this will certainly get you started. Take action and good luck!
